To become a Certified Story Grid Editor, I studied story theory and was trained by Shawn Coyne. I’ve also completed a 6 month intensive Developmental Editing process with a Professional Editor. I studied a multitude of stories, analysed masterworks, and used the tools on my own drafts.
As an Associate Member of the Institute of Professional Editors, I regularly attend training and information session to keep up to date with industry trends, standards, and content requirements.
The Story Grid method analyses stories from the scene, sequence, act, and complete story level. While I believe style and word choice have a place in all forms of story, Story Grid focuses on story structure. I promise the feedback I provide will focus on the structure of your work, its narrative drive, theme, point of view, and genre.
It doesn’t matter where you are in your writing journey, starting out but not knowing where to start, or a complete manuscript that’s not quite working, or you could be like me…someone who has a lot of demands on their time and doesn’t want to spend years and years on trial and error with little to show and unsure what to do when things don’t feel right.
